This programme can be taken from anywhere in New Zealand with our distance delivery which participants say is more personal than much in-person delivery.

People successfully completing this programme will be awarded the New Zealand Diploma in Applied Science (Level 5).

To successfully complete the programme you must successfully complete MET5000 Introduction to Practical Metrology, MET5020 Metrology Professionalism and your choice of two of the following modules:

MET5001 Practical Mass Metrology
MET5002 Practical Temperature Metrology
MET5003 Practical Dimensional Metrology
MET5004 Practical Pressure Metrology
MET5005 Practical Humidity Metrology
MET5006 Practical Radiation Metrology
MET5007 Practical Electrical and RF Metrology
MET5008 Practical Surface Metrology
MET5009 Practical Time Metrology
MET5010 Practical Specialised Metrology

Who for
This programme is primarily for people who are not yet in a metrology laboratory or people early in their time in a metrology laboratory who have not yet developed key basic skills.

NZ domestic: Currently no fees due to generous support through the Tertiary Education Commission.  Without that support, the fee would be over $7200.

International: $30,100

  • the recommendation of a Delivery Site, and

  • demonstration of understanding of the programme and general suitability for the study through Real World Education's pre-entry process.

All 2025 intakes for this programme are full.  If you have an urgent need to take this programme, please apply with the intake code 5000-ASAP.  If you are accepted, we will put you on a waiting list to replace someone who withdraws.

The programme can be completed much more quickly if done full time.
