Using Specialised Literature (Micro-credential)
This programme can be taken from anywhere in New Zealand with our distance delivery which participants say is more personal than much in-person delivery.
Who for
This programme is primarily for people who already work in a laboratory who would like to develop their skills to find and use materials such as journal articles.

Thanks to generous funding from the Tertiary Education Commission, there are no fees for this programme.

Entry requirements
  • either a science (or related) tertiary qualification, or the recommendation of the applicant’s laboratory employer, and

  • demonstration of understanding of the micro-credential and general suitability for the study through Real World Education's pre-entry process.


Intake 6002-30
17 April 2023 - 15 September 2023
Each of the first ten weeks, participants are required to attend one of these sessions:

  • Thursday, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
  • Thursday 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm, or
  • Saturday 11 am - noon

Every week during programme, optional sessions for help and practice, but no presentation of new material, will be available Monday 10 am - noon and Tuesday 3 pm - 5 pm. Individual, scheduled sessions will also be available.

First assessment (about 15% of programme) must be completed by 07 May 2023.
